Attendance Works is deeply grateful to our 2025 Attendance Awareness Campaign sponsors:
● RaaWee K12 Solutions
● School Technology Associates
● Talking Points
● Kaiser Permanente Thriving Schools
Their generous support has been instrumental in supporting our ability to provide free resources to schools, districts and states nationwide through the Attendance Awareness Campaign. With their support, we increased our outreach to states, districts, schools and communities that responded by raising awareness about the critical problem of missing too many days, and encouraging action to improve attendance and engagement.
Nearly five years after the pandemic, chronic absence remains far too high nationally, disproportionately affecting students from under-resourced communities. Research indicates that students with chronic absence are less likely to read at grade level by third grade, more likely to score lower on standardized tests and be suspended in middle school. By ninth grade, chronic absence is a better indicator of dropping out of high school than eighth-grade test scores.
To tackle this challenge, all hands are needed. This starts by helping everyone in the community recognize they have a stake and a role because schools certainly can’t do it all alone. Schools, families, students and communities can work together to overcome barriers to attendance. They can invest in relationships and engaging learning environments that motivate students to come to school, and then layer in additional support when needed.
We are proud of the progress made through the Attendance Awareness Campaign in raising awareness about the importance of engaging families and students. We thank every educator, community partner and policymaker dedicated to promoting strong attendance!
