Handouts for Families – Now in Several Languages!

Parents do want their children to do well in school, surveys show. However, most don’t know how many days their student is absent each year, and few understand the connection between strong attendance and achievement.

Even as students stay home due to quarantine or illness, it’s important to effectively communicate with families about attendance. We advise keeping the tone positive, non-threatening and supportive, whether you are speaking face-to-face or in writing.

We’ve been updating our popular Handouts for Families throughout the pandemic to respond to changes related to the pandemic. The new Get Ready for School flyer helps families with very young learners prepare for school.

Several have been translated into Spanish, Chinese, Creole, Tagalog and Vietnamese.
